Frequently asked questions.

When does a student need to begin taking the ACT?

It is a good idea to get a baseline score on the ACT at the end of the Sophomore year or the beginning of the Junior year. From this baseline, families can make a testing and prep plan choosing from the many courses created to fit your life. Ideally, the student has met the desired score before entering into the Senior year to reduce the pressure of the college application process.

What are some tips for creating a test prep plan?

  • Examine the family and student schedule

  • Review the scheduled test dates at www.act.org

  • Plan for test prep at least two months prior to the desired test date

  • If possible, register for two back-to-back test dates to maximize test prep and minimize stress

What sets Roundtable apart from other forms of test prep?

Test prep is additional work added to the busy schedule and course load of students. Roundtable begins the course with an Accountability Contract and goal-setting. While the course is not for a grade in school, students are given quizzes, practice tests, and other assignments that receive scores to help monitor progress and motivate engagement. And we celebrate every personal record!

Is test prep worth the cost? Can't students just study on their own?

Students can certainly study on their own, but often their busy schedules interfere with their best intentions. And they don’t know what they don’t know. Roundtable has been preparing students for the ACT since 2012, making it our business to know the best strategies, tips, and tricks. Considering the tens of thousands of dollars potentially awarded in scholarships, the cost of a test prep course has a phenomenal return on investment. Need-based scholarships and multi-child discounts available. Just ask.
